Fuel Delivery System

Fuel Tank

The fuel tank is a new, stainless steel unit hand-made to our specifications byRick’s Tanks of El Paso, Texas.  The capacity, as far as we can tell, is 22 gallons.

Fuel Pump

A Walbro 255 LPH electric fuel pump is located in the tank.

Fuel lines

The fuel delivery and return lines are all braided stainless steel lines with AN fittings.  Do not use normal wrenches to work on these fittings.  Special AN wrenches are required.

The connection of the fuel delivery line to the fuel rails is a “quick disconnect” fitting which requires a tool specifically designed for this fitting, such as the Lisle 37000.

Fuel Filter

The Aeromotive fuel filter is located in the fuel line, forward of the fuel pump,  The filter can be disassembled for cleaning or element replacement. This is a special, 10 micron filter specifically for fuel injected vehicles.

Fuel Tank Filler

The fuel filler door has been relocated to behind the rear license plate. There is a “push through” filler cap which allows fueling without removal of the fuel filler cap.

Fuel pressure regulator

There is an adjustable Aeromotive 13301 fuel pressure regulator mounted in the fuel return line.  Currently the fuel pressure is set at 54 PSI.  The installed spring in this regulator allows adjustment from 20-65 psi.

Fuel Rails and Injectors

The fuel rails and injectors are Chrysler as furnished with the 6.1 Hemi crate motor.  Those seeking to upgrade the power output of the engine might focus on these components for possible aftermarket replacement with higher volume fuel rails and injectors.
